MWC 2012: Huawei debuts the MediaPad 10 FHD quad-core ICS tablet

After the unveiling of their new handset line-up, Huawei's quad-core mania continues with their newly announced 10-inch tablet; the MediaPad 10 FHD. Yes, you guessed it right, the FHD does indeed stand for Full HD as the tablet boasts of an incredible resolution of 1920 x 1080. It will be powered by Huawei’s very own K3 quad-core processor, that the company claims is the fastest on the block, even quicker than the much hyped Nvidia Tegra 3. Besides that, it’s also said to be a lot more power frugal in terms of power consumption. We can’t say that we’re surprised given that Tegra 3 is still manufactured using the 40nm fabrication. Due to the smaller size of Huawei’s chip, the CPU is clocked at a tantalizing 1.5GHz which should handle Android 4.0 without breaking a sweat.

Besides this number crunching capability, the MediaPad FHD also supports high speed wireless up to 84Mbps (HSPA+) as well as LTE. The Full HD panel is an IPS display thereby giving you accurate colour reproduction as well as better viewing angles. The tablet will also feature Dolby surround sound technology. The tablet is fitted with an 8MP snapper and a 1.3MP front facing camera. This is also on one of the few tablets to have 2GB of RAM onboard so performance should never be an issue. The tablet is built using a unibody aluminium chassis, weighing in at 598g and measures just 8.8mm thin. The tablet will be launched somewhere in the Q2 of 2012 and will eventually make its way to our shores. No details on the pricing yet but  we should know more once launch day arrives.

Here are some of the highlights of the MediaPad FHD:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 10-inch FHD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080
  • 1.5GHz Qual-Core Huawei K3 SoC
