Mystery 10-inch HTC tablet surfaces ahead of IFA

| by Aaron Almeida | Tablets

With the IFA set to kick off, there are a range of leaks that are happening. The latest product that has made an appearance is an unusual looking tablet from HTC. This information comes via Droiddog and the Android related website has sourced these images from a Twitter account @evleaks.

As of now, there is absolutely nothing to go by as far as specifications are concerned, but from the looks of it, it is a 10-inch tablet that will be unveiled at IFA. The report by Droidogs states, “Thanks to an anonymous Twitter account, @evleaks., The account reveals what appears to be leaked images of an unnamed HTC tablet.  As of now specs are unknown, however, the tablet appears to be 10″ and has a unique bezel that differentiates itself from the current tablet market.  With IFA just days away, will HTC formally announce their plans with this device? Keep checking back with DroidDog as more details are unveiled.”

Besides this tablet, HTC is expected to take the wraps off a mid range smartphone called the Desire X. As per a recent report, the HTC Desire X will come loaded with Android 4.0.4 and will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. The dimensions of the handset suggest that it will measure 118.5 x 62.3 x 9.3mm making it a fairly slim handset. The Desire X will weigh a mere 120g, so it should not be too heavy on the pocket.

Here is a quick look at the highlighted features of the Desire X

  • Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0 UI
  • 4.0-inch Super LCD display
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 3.5mm audio jack, USB
  • 4GB internal storage + microSD card support, 768MB RAM
  • 5MP rear camera with LED flash, F/2.0 aperture and HTC ImageChip

As for the other features of this smartphone, the HTC Desire X will come with 25GB of Dropbox storage and will be fitted with Beats Audio technology. If this happens, any speculation of HTC and Beats drifting apart will be negated.

As of now, these are the only two mobile devices expected to be launched by the brand at the event. However, HTC may have a surprise in store for us and launch a slew of devices just like it did at the Mobile World Congress event held earlier this year.

Another manufacturer that is supposed to make a big impact at the IFA event is Samsung. The brand is expected to unveil its next generation Galaxy Note smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy Note 2.

Here is a brief look at what one can expect to find on the handset once launched:

  • 5.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a 1280 x 720
  • 4G LTE, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC
  • GPS possibly with GLONASS and A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth possible v4.0 with USB and hopefully USB-on-the-go
  • 8 megapixel AF/ Touchfocus camera with full HD video recording and playback
  • A front facing camera for video calls and chats
  • 16GB and 32GB versions, all with expandable support
  • MHL for AV out

Earlier reports have indicated that the next generation Galaxy Note is expected to feature the Pen-tile matrix display instead of the RGB variant used in the S II. Apart from the screen size, the design is said to be heavily inspired by the Galaxy S III, so we can expect a similar form factor with heavily rounded edges and a pebble-like design. If the Note II is indeed modelled around the S III, there is a good chance that the phone will get some or all of the ‘S’ features such as S Beam, Smart Stay eye tracking and Smart Voice.
