Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 in India

10 Aug, 2011, 5:07 pm IST | by Roydon Cerejo | Tablets

After a lot of anticipation, Samsung has finally pulled the wraps off their latest tablet duo in India. The two tablets, Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 have been launched with slightly different names as compared to their international versions. The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab will be called the Tab 750, while the 8.9-inch version will now be called Tab 730. The Tab 750 will be available by the end of August, while the Tab 730 will come only around mid-September.

Finally here!

Finally here!

The tablets will feature the new TouchWiz UX user interface along Android Honeycomb 3.1.  Here are the specifications:

  • 1GHz dual core processors,
  • 3G compatibility (HSPA+, 21Mbps support) and Wi-Fi Samsung’s updated Touchwiz UX
  • A mini apps tray to speed up multitasking
  • Readers Hub, Music Hub for eBooks and music on the go
  • 3MP rear AF camera with LED flash and 720p video recording capability, 2MP front camera
  • Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR for the Tab 10.1 and v3.0 for the 8.Tab 9
  • GPS with A-GPS
  • Adobe Flash support
  • 1080p HD@30fps video playback, DivX and Xvid support
  • Dual surround-sound speakers
  • QuickOffice HD Editor
  • MicroSD card support

The Tab 750 will cost you Rs. 36,200 for the 3G+Wi-Fi version with 16GB built-in memory, while the 730 will set you back by Rs. 33,990 for the same feature set. Samsung, together with Vodafone is offering a special 3G data plan with 2GB per month for six months for Rs.3,000.

Just as we expected, Samsung's fashionably late entrance into the 10.1-inch tablet market has really shaken up the competition. From both the tablets, the Tab 730 looks very tempting at that price, especially since it has 3G as well. The Motorola Xoom and the Acer ICONIA better get their act together if they hope to stand a chance against the new Galaxy Tabs.
