Toshiba's Tablet is Called Thrive

| by Ashish Koshy | Tablets

Back in January, we saw Toshiba announcing their very own Honeycomb tablet. The 10-inch slab was announced after which we also saw it getting a teaser site. Finally the tablet was shown at the MWC, this year. While all this happened, the tablet was devoid of any official name.

It looks like that has finally been sorted and Toshiba will be calling their tablet, Thrive. The tablet has been listed for pre-orders on J&R, at prices of $449 for the 8 GB version (approx Rs. 20,300) and $579 (approx Rs. 26,200) for the 32 GB version. Also, the tablet might be “coming soon” as the site has mentioned. However, we really can’t go with that statement after seeing that the launch of the Japanese version of this tablet has been delayed to the third quarter of 2011.

From all the specifications it’s quite clear that Thrive will be running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and will be powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. The tablet also features a 10-inch screen, a 5 megapixel camera at the back, and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera. So, with all these specifications, we just have to wait and watch whether the tablet can actually “Thrive” in the market.
