UbiSlate to get multi-language support

Better known to the masses in India, as the makers of the world’s most affordable tablet, Canada-based Datawind have now inked a deal with Bengaluru-based, Reverie Language Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and together they will offer multi-language support on the UbiSlate range of tablets. In what can be termed as a strategic deal, UbiSlate makers, Datawind and Reverie Language Technologies will offer the content on the tablet in several major local Indian languages, like Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi and other major global languages too, thereby ensuring that the affordable technology serves to the benefit of more and more people, and not just a limited few. WIth multi-language support English will no longer be a barrier for users looking to utilize the benefits of the world’s most affordable tablet, since the entire user experience will be in the user’s language of choice. ![]() Trying to reach out to more..
At the announcement of the alliance, the Datawind CEO, Suneet Singh Tuli was quoted as saying, “We are very happy to have formed this strategic partnership with Reverie for supply of language solutions. We feel strongly that technology should reach every corner of the world and knowledge of English should not be a barrier. This language solution will benefit the users by offering a new world of services and products to a segment of world population that has been ignored for so long.” While, Reverie Language Technologies CEO Arvind Pani was quoted as saying, “We are very excited to be part of Datawind family and getting a chance of making digital information available to the masses in their preferred language. We strongly believe that our alliance will go a long way in bridging the digital divide in the under-privileged communities across the world.”
According to the report, the tablets loaded with the multi-language support will come with text-rendering technology, which will display all languages - that includes complex scripts and keypads for all supported languages including transliteration technology.
