In the realm of low-cost, ICS-running tablets currently available in the country, yet another player has made an entry and it goes by the name of Wammy 7, and has been introduced to the market by makers, Wicked Leak. The tablet aims to offer able competition to the government's Aakash tablet, currently available in the country. Wammy 7, a 7-inch tablet PC is being claimed by its makers to be the most powerful 7-inch tablet computer available for students and professionals. Speaking at the launch of the tablet, a company spokesperson stated, “Even though the Indian media tablets market witnessed high decibel launches by the world’s leading vendors, the Tablet PC market in India is a niche market that is quickly picking up the pace with respect to adoption.” ![]() The new entrant
The tablet, which can be ordered online from company's official website, will be initially launched at schools, professional institutions, and corporate houses. The Wammy 7 tablet PC, as aforementioned features the ICS version of Android and is fuelled by 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A10 All Winner processor with 512 MB DDR3 RAM. Wammy 7 is capable of delivering 1080p full HD video streaming and has dedicated 400 MHzGPU fo advanced flash Apps, Interactive Apps and full HD videos. Wammy is powered by 3,800 mAh li-Pol battery which gives a back up of over 4 hours with Wi-Fi on. Wicked Leak Inc is a company initiated in electronics research and mobile technologies amd mostly sells most of its product through its website and shopping portal.
Here are the specifications of the Wicked Leak Wammy 7:
ICS-running Wammy 7 tablet PC retails in the market currently at Rs. 5,249 (excluding taxes)
Wammy 7 now joins a niche league, that of low-cost, ICS running tablets in India. The Aakash tablet introduced previously has been the one of the ambitious projects undertaken by the Indian government. The tablet, although had the best interests of the student community in the country, failed to capture much mileage, post launch. Poor build quality, battery issues, internal tiffs proved to be a spoiler to the initial joy and excitement that came with the launch of the initial version of the Aakash tablet. |
