BSNL Offers 2Mbps Net Connectivity in 2007

State owned telecom operator and Internet Service Provider (ISP), BSNL has announced that it will provide broadband speed of up to 2 Megabits Per Second (Mbps), to all its existing subscribers. BSNL broadband subscribers, who have been offered internet connectivity of 256 kilobits Per Second until now, will be liable for the speed upgrade in early 2007. Announcing the move, the Communication and IT Minister, Dayanidhi Maran, said that the year 2007 will be christened as the 'Year of Broadband' in India. He said BSNL has offered this aggressive plan of providing five million broadband connections in 2007, with minimum download speed of 1 Mbps, as a challenge for private operators. Read more here. |
