Reliance Communications, India's No. 2 mobile operator, on Friday slashed SMS charges, further heating up an ongoing price war in the Indian mobile market. Reliance said it would charge customers just 1 paisa per SMS in a new bill plan. One paisa is 1/100th of a rupee. The company also launched another plan where customers can send unlimited text messages by paying 1 rupee a day. Currently operators charge between 0.5 and 1 rupee for local and national SMSes |
