Reliance Communications, a telecom major in the Anil Ambani group, Friday announced a major milestone with a subscriber base of 100 million for its wireless services with the target of doubling the number over the next three years. With this, the company has become the fourth-largest operator in the world, serving 100 million customers in a single country, said a statement issued by the company. "The landmark, 100-million mobile customer base makes us the youngest telecom operator to achieve this milestone in such a short span of time -- seven years of operations," said group chairman Anil Ambani. "As we take the leap to achieve the 200 million mark, we will lead it from the front with more customer-centric innovations and service approach," Ambani said in the statement. As part of its expansion strategy, the telecom major plans to take its broadband network with speeds of up to 3.1 mbps beyond 60 cities within the next 100 days. The target will be 125 cities. To commemorate the achievement, the company also announced plans of launching a slew of initiatives over the next 100 days, including a customised '100 Million Caller Tune' in 24,000 towns and 600,000 villages across the country. |
