Meru Cab upgrades its mobile website to HTML5

| by Nishtha Kanal | Web apps

Meru Cabs, one of India’s largest radio cab service providers, has upgraded its mobile website to HTML5. The company claims the website is optimised for touch-enabled devices and enables quick cab bookings from smartphones.

Through this app, users will be able to avail of various facilities the cab company has to offer. Users who travel by Meru cabs on a regular basis can save the time and effort of having to type the pick up and drop address each time a cab is booked. Customers will now have the option of having the details of their past five trips stored in the user’s personal account with Meru.

Essentially, regular pick up or drop addresses like “home” or “office” can be saved in a My Favourites section on your account, and you can simply choose where you want to head to. Customers can also track the proximity of a booked cab through a map on the website and check the arrival time.

Other facilities Meru is offering include the convenience of booking the cab within a couple of clicks. Using the service, you can call the driver assigned to pick you up with a single click. You can also access a record of your trip receipt over the phone and can rate the service.

Meru also has an Android app on Google's Play Store, besides apps for BlackBerry and a few other platforms. The HTML5 website is accessible via most handsets and you don't need to have the app installed on your phone.

Commenting on the launch of the new website, Meru Cabs CTO, Nilesh Sangoi, stated, “Over the past few years, touchscreen-based smartphones have gained in popularity and have captured a large part of the market share. The new HTML5-based mobile site caters to all brands and models of touch-enabled smartphones. We believe this will provide great convenience to consumers on the go."
