Skype launches third-party app directory

Popular VOIP service, Skype recently launched a dedicated site for third part apps, which can be used to enhance video calls. This new site should attract more developers to code specific apps tailored for their applications. Clicking on an app gives you more information like release date, OS compatibility, description, screenshots and user reviews, just like any other app store.

Be more productive with new add-ons

The App Directory contains a mix of consumer and business apps and you can sort them as per free, paid, top rated, top downloaded or new. The site also has a very prominent section below, which shows you ‘Featured Apps’. Scrolling a bit further down the site, you can directly jump into various categories like Business, Faxing, Mobile video, etc. You can also view the top rated apps in each category on the same page. The advanced search option lets you narrow down your search quickly and find the app you’re looking for. It seems like a good effort from Skype and now that Microsoft is backing it, it will only get better.
