Super SOPA Bros – here's how Mario with censorship plays like

Stop SOPA is gaining momentum and that doesn’t really come as a surprise – with the Wikipedia blackout, Google support and all of the other biggies involved, this was bound to happen. As reported by Kotaku, there’s a new Mario tribute game up on the Internet; only this one comes with a twist – it’s a protest game that people have uploaded to online site, Ludum Dare.
![]() Censored!
What’s quite cool about the whole game is how they’ve managed to keep the very essence of Mario intact, while still giving the message to the players. The game has all the hidden 1ups, the coins, the mushrooms ALL OF IT, but the only major difference is that every bit of this is censored. At the start of the game, you can choose to either play a new game, find details about it or get redirected to another site to learn about SOPA. The game ends quite cheekily with the entire background blurring out and a writing showing that remaining part has been blocked.
As part of the initiative by Ludum Dare, users can create their own stop SOPA games and upload for the whole community to play. However, you’ll have to sign in before you get to upload a game. The game clearly points out what will happen if the SOPA act goes through. By the looks of it at least, the future looks grim, depressing and dismal. SOPA hasn’t gone down too well with most companies and we’re hoping that there’s a right end to this whole hullabaloo. As far as Super SOPA Bros is concerned, click this link to play the game. |
