Adult Websites to get .xxx Domain Names

They say nothing stays the same but change, and this is so true when it comes to online adult content. It has been around for ages, and is going to be present for a long time to come, whether people like it or not. However, there’s a new change that’s been in the works. I just read on TechCrunch that adult websites will soon be getting their own .xxx domain name. Apparently, the Board of Directors of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) approved the go ahead for this on Friday. The new domain names will start entering cyberspace later this year and will cost approximately $75-100 each.

The times are changing

A lot of adult website owners are apparently not very happy about this decision, as they do not wish for their brand names to be associated with this new domain name. According to Andrew Allenman, who wrote the article on TechCrunch, these people are worried that these websites will be sidelined and censored by the government after being made to convert to the .xxx domain.

People have already started pre-reserving the .xxx domain name and over 280,000 of these have already been pre-reserved.
