Bing to Be BlackBerry's Search Engine by Default

Addressing a bunch of enthusiasts at the BlackBerry World Conference, Orlando, Florida; Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO had an exciting bit to share.

Microsoft’s modest search engine, Bing will be the search engine and will also provide map applications, by default on RIM’s BlackBerry smartphones. A testimony to Microsoft’s larger than life ambitions, this move has cemented the software maker’s quest to enter the space dominated by Google Inc. Bing services will be made available to all BlackBerry customers as their default setup, this is to say that if they choose to pick Google over Bing, they would still be able to do so.

Further on, Microsoft aims to establish itself well on BlackBerry’s platform, as it has been battling out with Google, here as well. RIM, too has been facing sleepless nights as the market share of rival Apple iPhone and handsets running Google's Android software is growing by leaps and bounds. It would be interesting to note that this move has come at a time when the much spoken about Microsoft – Nokia alliance is underway. However, analysts at Microsoft have ruled out the possibility of any complications.
