comScore, a research company that closely studies web sites and internet traffic, announced results of its search engine study done over the month of December, 2010. The research shows that Google takes the number one spot, followed by Yahoo!, Microsoft, Ask and then AOL. Google dominated the list with 64.3 per cent of the total traffic, whereas Yahoo! lagged behind with just 18.8 per cent.

Google still dominates the search engine market

The study also shows that while all of the search engines had an increase in traffic each month, it’s services such as AOL, who lost nearly 5 per cent between November 2010 and December 2010. Google on the other hand rose by some 3 per cent during the same period, while Yahoo! didn’t gain or lose any drastic traffic. American made close to 18.2 billion searches during the month of December 2010.
