Google Search remains one of Google's most used services, despite the company having now expanded into diverse arenas of software and social networking, among other things. Each day, right from looking up the best restaurant option in one's vicinity to the latest news - Google Search comes to one's rescue endlessly and now, Google wants you to get better at doing that. Google is now introducing for its users - 'Power Searching with Google' - a free online, community-based course teaching users search techniques and how they can use them to 'solve real, everyday problems'. The course comprises six 50-minute classes, wherein users will be put through interactive activities to help them practice new skills. Through the course, users will also be able to 'connect with others using Google Groups, Google+, and Hangouts on Air.' Further, upon successful completion of the post-course assessment, users will be emailed their printable Certificate of Completion. ![]() Wants to make you a power searcher
If you wish to be a 'power searcher', you can register for the course here - the registration is open from June 26, 2012 - July 16, 2012. The first class will be released on July 10, 2012. The new classes will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting on July 10, 2012 and ending on July 19, 2012. July 23, 2012 is the last day of the course.
The course lessons, according to Mashable will be led by Google Senior Research Scientist Dan Russell. In his statement to Mashable, Russell added, "This is open to everyone, from beginner searchers to people who already know some of the tricks of the trade. For example, you can use the search box as a calculator or filter for images by color. This course is aimed at helping people to learn new search techniques so they can find what they need faster, no matter how they currently use search.” In his statement further, Russell revealed that the sign-ups for the course 'has been great so far', and he expects more to join in in. “We will be using lots of different Google technology to provide a rich, social, educational environment that should be a great learning experience,” he added further. |
