Iomega launched a new service, Personal Cloud Technology, through which users can connect their Iomega network storage device to another individual or device via the internet. Iomega claims that the technology is completely self owned, which means that content and accessibility is always under user control. There are no usage fees or subscription charges. Iomega Director of Sales for India and SAARC, Praveen Sahai says that when users have two or more of their NAS products, they can remotely backup their onsite data to an alternate location including the office, home etc. This gives users a disaster recovery plan.
The Iomega Personal Cloud can be set up by naming your Personal Cloud and then confirming the set up of the technology. Users can invite upto 250 member devices into their Personal Cloud, including friends, family, co-workers etc, and files can be copied and shared directly between computers as though they were on the same network.
The Iomega Personal Cloud Technology is available with the launch of the Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud Edition priced at Rs. 7,500. |
