In an official post yesterday, LinkedIn's Angela Yang announced the introduction of a new feature to the social network for professionals -- Notifications. As the name suggests, LinkedIn's new notification feature will keep users notified in real-time, each time their contacts like the content they share on LinkedIn, view their profile, accept their invitation, etc.
Yang demonstrates that users should be able to spot a notification flag at the top of their homepage and a new Inbox envelope icon. Every time there is something new, such as comments, likes or shares, an accepted connection request, new inMails, among other things, a red circle will appear. She goes on to add, "This new feature is all part of our ongoing effort to make it easier to keep engaging discussions going with your network".

LinkedIn plans to introduce LinkedIn notifications for mobile users soon. The feature will be made available to users across Android, iPhone and iPad platforms using the LinkedIn application. This way, LinkedIn adds, users will not miss comments or updates to an engaging discussion, pertaining to a news article or any trending topic on LinkedIn.
Yang elaborates that the new feature started rolling out yesterday, and that it may be a few weeks before users are able to spot to the flag appear at the top of their LinkedIn homepage. She adds, “In the meantime, start sharing a professional update, like a relevant news article, or comment on what your connections are discussing. We’ll take care of the rest and make sure you’re notified when people take actions on your updates. And stay tuned for more from the team as we’re working hard to bring new features that continue to make it easier to discover and discuss what matters to you”.
