I’ve been doing the rounds of the Indian rock scene for over ten years now, and it is definitely improving. There are more venues, which mean more gigs and even the crowd has changed from screaming for Metallica and Iron Maiden covers to appreciating honest, original music. The internet, of course, is only helping this cause, as more and more sites are being launched to support independent Indian music. Jumping on this bandwagon is Quepplin Technology’s Zephyr – The Indian Music Rock Hub. This site was recently exhibited at the Mobile World Congress 2011 by Oracle Corp. Find out what's happening with local rock bands
Zephyr allows you to access music from various Indian rock bands on your mobile phone. If you have an Android or Java phone, you can stream and play music on your mobile handsets, make playlists and share your musical tastes with friends on social networks. Sounds pretty cool, but I only hope it lasts. At the end of the day, rock music doesn't really sell as much as commercial stuff. |
