We last mentioned the Pwn2Own hacking contest, but for those who missed that bit, here's a short recap of the same - The upcoming Pwn2Own hacking contest has got Mozilla and Google on their toes. The contest that’s due for next week has already seen the browser giants patching the flaws in their respective browsers.
As per latest reports, Microsoft would stay away from patching Internet Explorer before the hacking contest. According to a March Patch Tuesday pre-alert that come out on Thursday; Redmond will be issuing three security bulletins next week. One of those affects a critical flaw in Windows and leaves out flaws in IE. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 would be affected by the critical update while the two lesser risk bulletins cover a separate flaw in Windows and an update for the Office Groove 2007 software. Microsoft last patched IE in February, while Google and Mozilla did it early this week. The browsers are now gearing up for the contest, lest they’re caught off guard! |
