We're inching closer to the end of the year with each passing day, but Twitter it seems is in no mood to let the year pass before looking back at the year gone by. Editorial Director Karen Wickre sheds light on ‘2012 Year on Twitter’—a compilation of all the significant moments that the social network's users indulged in through the course of the year.
Wickre states that this year, everyone on Twitter “brought us closer to moments and places that used to be far away or inaccessible: A Tweet from the bottom of the ocean. Tweets from Mars. An extraordinary view from space of Superstorm Sandy. A quiet backstage moment with a presidential candidate.” ![]() All that happened on Twitter in the year gone by
2012.twitter.com lets you explore and discover all the important moments on Twitter. The various moments have been compiled under five categories—Golden Tweets, The pulse of the planet, Only on Twitter, Top Trends and New voices.
Golden Tweets comprise the top two tweets that raked in the highest retweets for the year, along with honorable mentions of some others that caught the world's attention. The pulse of the planet lists some of the biggest conversations of the year that raked in large numbers of tweets and retweets. Only on Twitter brings together tweets that came to life on Twitter.
Top trends comprise a list of the notable trends of the year across the UK, USA and Japan. Those listed here reveal bits that captured Twitter's attention based on sudden spikes of interest. Lastly, there is New voices, which introduces Twitter's expansive audience to all the new voices that came together from every corner of the world.
If all this while, you have been looking to find out about your year on Twitter, then you should know that Twitter has partnered with Vizify to let you do just that.
Twitter has been surrounded by a lot of buzz for the past few days. It was recently reported that the Instagram versus Twitter tussle had reached new heights, with Instagram disabling a feature that’s left their images on Twitter not showing up properly. Since then, Instagram had cut its ties with Twitter. Presently, you can't see your Instagram images on Twitter. Instead, you're provided with a link which takes you to the Instagram website where the images can be easily viewed.
Users can edit and refine their photos right from the Twitter app itself. As of now, it appears that this feature is available only for Android devices, but Twitter has stated that it will be available for the iPhone as well.
Commenting on this feature, Twitter states, “Every day, millions of people come to Twitter to connect with the things they care about and find out what’s happening around the world. As one of the most compelling forms of self-expression, photos have long been an important part of these experiences.” |
