Vodafone India now lets you chat with customer care online

Vodafone India will now allow its customers to talk to customer care executives via chat. The telecom company recently launched a new service called 'Happy to Help through Live Chat', which connects you to a customer care executive who you chat with and ask to solve any queries you might have. This service is currently available for Vodafone customers in Delhi & NCR, Gujarat and Mumbai, and can be used between 9 am and 6 pm from Monday to Saturday.

On the Vodafone India support page, users can spot the Happy to Help section in the right panel. You have to log in using your name and mobile number, and you're connected to a Vodafone customer service executive. The move is interesting, since this way Internet-savvy users can get their queries solved, obtain more information about Vodafone’s services, among other things, without having to call up the call centre.

However, we tried service out and the chat applet seemed to be a little buggy, as we had to wait for quite some time for the chat applet to connect and it took really long to send our questions to the executive. Here’s a glimpse of what the service is like:

While the answers did come through, we noticed that it took really long for that to happen. The chat window that opened for us flashed a message: "Agent being identified... Please wait". The message continued to show up at the bottom for a really long time.

For the most part, the questions we typed in did not even show up on the chat window and by the time they did, the executive had disconnected. What's more, the chat applet doesn't support any version of Firefox above v.3.0, while Internet Explorer is supported up to IE 8. A page states that it also supports Netscape Communicator; we have no idea why.

That apart, we found the service useful since we got our answers.
