If you’re an overweight World of Warcraft addict, here’s something that might interest you – the guys at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence have hacked the Wii Fit balance board to work with World of Warcraft! This basically allows them to control the movement of a character in-game via the Wii Fit board. Check out this video where Matthieu Deru and Simon Bergweiler, two grad students, show off their unique endeavor. They supposedly used Homebrew software to translate on-board motions of the Wii Fit board to something the PC could understand, and connected the two via Bluetooth. While the practical use of it is questionable since raiding/PvPing for hours at stretch while standing on your feet will kill even the most Alterac Valley hardened WoW-ers, you’ve got to admit, playing a non-fitness or non-console game using the Wii Fit board sounds like fun! |
