Augmented Reality Application Helps Kids Have a Blast

5th December saw over 20,000 dedicated Cartoon Network fans storm Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai. The event held here was the annual ‘Toon Cricket - The Ultimate Showdown’, where fans got a chance to cheer on their favourite teams. Popular cartoon superhero, Ben 10, captain of the Benultimates team led his team to a resounding victory over Aggregor’s Aggressors. To guide the teams through the match, cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was also called in. Tom hits a cricket ball instead of Jerry for a change What made the event all the more exciting was the digital augmented reality applications that allowed fans to participate live in the Toon Cricket contest and enjoy games, videos and wallpapers on their mobile phones. For the first time, children got to emulate their favourite superhero, Ben 10 through the Augmented Reality (AR) application. The stall that hosted this application was called the ‘Cartoon Network Digital Zone’ and allowed fans to be photographed wearing the virtual Ultimatrix. Fans also got to download a lot of free wallpapers, video and information about Toon Cricket by simply sending a text to 58558 with the letters CNTC. All they had to do to start the application was point their phone cameras at the intARact code on their invite, and they could be a part of the fun and games. |
