So the Garmin Asus A10 is quite the phone to have if you’re a traveler. But what if you own an iPhone or an Android-based smartphone? Well, they have some good solutions for you as well. Garmin will be showing some apps for iPhones and Android based phones at the CES this year. The apps include StreetPilot specifically for the iPhone, Garmin Tracker, myMechanic and My-Cast Lite. These apps will help you guide your way through the otherwise congested roadways. You won't need me anymore The StreetPilot app for the iPhone gives you unlimited usage of turn by turn navigation. The app has two options of “Where To?” and “Map” which has addresses and services listed, gives you voice navigation and prompts street names right till the destination. Moving around traffic will be a breeze through traffic alerts. If you’re driving to a new place, you can use Lane Assist to know which lanes you should stick to. Junction view gives you an image of complex junctions that are just about to show up. Garmin Tracker app works in co-ordination with the Garmin GTU 10 tracking device. This small device can be attached to your children, pets or vehicles so you don’t lose them. The app lets you view their status on Garmin's web page through your smartphone. If you’re interested in knowing the performance metrics of your vehicle including torque, horsepower, etc. the myMechanic app will be available for download from the Android Market next month. The My-Cast Lite app is available for Android and lets users check radar, current conditions, hourly and extended forecasts and more. So that’s quite a bit from the apps department for the CES 2011 this week, lets hope we get to see more innovations like these. via Garmin Blogs |
