Apple says No WiFi iPod... Sort of

18 Aug, 2006, 11:30 am IST | by Aalaap Ghag |

Apple Taiwan seems to have gone against the wishes of iPodders around the world by squashing rumours about a WiFi iPod being next in line. Apple was supposed to send representatives to Asia to inform retailers about the product and how to demonstrate it. However, this was denied by Apple. And this may not be a mistake: WiFi is not very battery friendly; and in a device like the iPod that isn't too high on the battery life top list, it may lose to stereo Bluetooth. But Zune has WiFi and so do the DS and the PSP, so why not? I'd just like to add my two (more) cents and say that it would be wonderful if they called it the WiFiPod, whaddya say?apple-wireless-wifi-bluetooth-ipod.png
