Google Picasa gets Web Albums

The latest beta of Google's Picasa personal photo management application has a new feature that lets users upload their photos easily to the web for anyone and everyone to see. A lot of people use Picasa to manage their photos, and this service is a godsend for those who have had to rely on third party services like Flickr to upload their photos. The photos uploaded via Picasa are automatically resized and optimized for the web and can have captions and viewer comments. Every user gets 250 MB of free space to upload photos, with a US$25 per year paid subscription that gives you an additional 6 GB.
However, there's no password protection yet and there isn't any synchronization, so if you change a picture locally, it doesn't automatically get updated online. And of course 250 MB is nothing compared to Gmail's 2.7 GB. Apart from all this, I would also like to put down Orkut integration in the wishlist. I mean, come on, a 12-photo limit for an online social networking service?
