Microsoft hasn’t given up hope with their effort on the web browser front. The browser war has been heating up with everyone - Google, Mozilla and Opera releasing one version after the another. The latest one was Opera 11.50 and a while back, Firefox 5 was launched. Microsoft has launched the second preview version of the Internet Explorer 10 browser. The new version has upgraded specifications and includes a whole bunch of new features. Some of the interesting ones are drag and drop support in HTML5 and HTML5 forms. Unlike the last Internet Explorer 9, where preview builds were released in quick succession, Microsoft is going to release preview builds to the public every few months. The last one was launched in early April, 2011. Lack of extensions
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Test Drive site has a bunch of demos for developers and users to play around with the new browser. While the development is a move in the right direction, Microsoft has to do much more to be able to take on the might of Google Chrome and Firefox. There always seems to be some interest in the browser, but there are very few who migrate totally to Internet Explorer. While the stability and security of the browser might have improved to a major extent, the lack of customizability and extensions for the browser might be the missing link. |
