Office Web Apps are Now in India

07 Feb, 2011, 4:33 pm IST | by Sriram Gurunathan | Windows

Microsoft India have announced the launch of the Office Web Apps in India, which will allow users to access parts of the popular software suite for free.

Office on the Cloud

All you’ll need is a Windows Live account and when you sign into your Sky Drive or Hotmail account, you’ll be able to create and edit documents on the cloud – much like you do with your MS Office programs. Google had already implemented this with their Google Docs service, where users were able to create and edit documents as long as they had an active internet connection.

Commenting on the launch, Microsoft Business Division Direct Sanjay Manchanda told PTI, “Office Web Apps are a key piece of Microsoft’s overall cloud strategy and are designed to empower people to take their familiar productivity experience on the web."
