Rediff Launches Hindi IM, Rediff Bol

Rediff.com India Limited, online provider of news, information, communication, entertainment and shopping services has announced the launch of 'Rediff Bol', instant messaging service in Hindi, today.

'Rediff Bol in Hindi' has been introduced due to the whopping response received by Rediffmail Hindi from internet users across population strata. Speaking at the launch, Manish Agarwal, vice president, marketing, Rediff.com said, "We are delighted to announce the launch of the 'Rediff Bol in Hindi' with features that seek to simplify and speed up the communication for internet users who prefer communicating in Hindi spread across town classes in north and west india. We, at Rediff, have recognized the use of regional languages in online chatting and messaging and are proudly enabling youngsters to express themselves better in their mother tongue. This is yet another initiative from Rediff.com, towards our vision of making mail and messenger as the first choice of communication for the youngsters and we will contiInternetnue in this endeavor and very soon introduce other Indian languages in Rediff Bol."

The Rediff Bol user is now equipped with the option of choosing Hindi as a language for chatting and instant messaging. One needs to choose Hindi from the list of languages on their chat window, which is available as a dropdown menu. Rediff has put in place a complete customer care system for Rediff Bol users that can be accessed here.

According to figures released by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), 98% of the 38.5 million Indian Internet users access emails and there has been a whopping 54% growth in the user base to 25 million in 2005-06. According to JuxtConsult, 49% use internet for chatting; 18% of the internet users prefer Hindi as a language for reading and 17% have visited the Hindi language websites over a period of a month.
