Skype Joins Others In China Censorship

In a rather unsurprising move and much to my disgust Skype is the latest company that has agreed to censor material to ensure that it will be allowed to operate in China . The company has admitted that it has started filtering certain words in text messages, including "Falun Gong" and "Dalai Lama”.
As things stand China is one of Skype's biggest markets, so this rather public confession is not too shocking. The announcement from Skype comes at a time when China is defending its right to police the Internet and American companies are under heavy fire for agreeing so quickly to censor material. Wonder what will these companies do next? Hand over their employees for speaking out against China at the water cooler?
