Tango, a major frontrunner in video calling apps for Android and iOS, has announced that it intends to bring a video calling application to desktops PCs. This application will be rolled out for PCs this summer. Alternatively, they are providing a free sign up via their website. As of now, it looks like a Windows-only affair, which will remain free of charge like its mobile version.
Like Fring, Tango currently supports one-to-one video calling through Wi-Fi and 3G for both Android and iOS. It does not require any account to make calls. Besides video chat, Tango also offers multi-OS chatting for its users. According to their official release, they intend to keep a similar structure for their desktop app.
Tango to introduce Video Calling App for Desktop PCs
With a plethora of video chat applications for desktop PCs, the only way Tango can beat the competition is by providing extremely good quality video calls using limited system resources. Another point which could work in Tango’s favour is that it seems it will support video chat between desktop PCs and smartphones. So far, this feature has taken a toll on the quality of the video chat for other applications. However, if Tango manages to nail that bit, it definitely has an advantage over its competitors.
Video chatting has been picking up lately, but there’s one thing users should remember is that call quality scales dramatically with connection performance. As far as Tango’s new desktop app is concerned, stay tuned to this space for more updates. |
