British Market research company, YouGov, has released a set of 'most irritating' words on the internet. Words such as 'Blog', 'Netiquette', 'Cookie' and 'Wiki' have been voted the most annoying, by an online survey, conducted by the company. The word 'folksonomy', a term for Web classification system, topped the list. The word 'Blogosphere', has also emerged as a major irritant for net surfers along with 'Blook', which is a term referring to book based on a blog. YouGov questioned 2091 adults in early June, as part of the survey. This study was commissioned by the Lulu Blooker Prize, which is a literary award for books based on blogs. Collins English Dictionary announced, earlier this month, that a string of them would be included in their ninth edition. These included 'me-media', a term for personal content websites such as Facebook, and 'godcast', a religious service which has been converted to an MP3 format. |
