Wikipedia is all set to open up an office in India. The world's largest encyclopedia not written by experts has a fair number of articles in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali and other Indian languages. Barry Newstead, Chief Development Officer, Wikimedia Foundation said, “The magic of Wikipedia is that anyone can edit. They don't get a job because they do it. Nobody is earning any money. It's intangible. They do it because it feels good, to their mind, and to their heart.” Anirudh Singh Bhati, an editor with Wikipedia said, that Bangalore has the highest number of contributors to Wikipedia. However, going by the popularity of the website pan India and its turnout at recent Wiki meets in Mumbai, Pune and Delhi, Bangalore had better watch out to maintain its numero uno position as being the city with highest number of contributors to Wikipedia.
