Windows 7 RC1 Feature to Cause PC Shutdown Every 2 Hours

The latest from the Windows 7 ‘Boot’ camp is that RC 1 is valid for one year i.e. it’s supposed to expire on June 1 2010. While that sounds like a pretty good deal, reports are in that there seems to be a slight 'glitch' in the system. Apparently from the first of March 2010, the system will cause your PC to shut down, after every two hours. On the plus side Windows has provisioned the system with a reminder that will inform users that it’s time to install a non-expired version of the OS. The reminder will kick in about two weeks before the ‘end’ date of the OS. In retrospect, irrespective of the intimation of the shut down it seems a bit drastic for Microsoft to have incorporated this function into RC1. However, it’s more than likely you’ll wind up having a non expired full version well before that. With any luck MS will have launched Windows 7 properly before your RC1 edition expires. Anything is possible. You can download RC1 here. |
