Windows Server 2012 set for September 4 launch

| by Aneez Shaikh | Windows

Microsoft’s Windows Server 2012 has been released to manufacturing (RTM). The final code is complete and Microsoft’s hardware and software vendor partners should get it by the end of this week. Furthermore, the date for general availability for evaluation and purchase by all customers around the world has been set for September 4.

According to a post on the Windows Server Blog, Microsoft will also host an online collaborative event on the launch date, where Microsoft executives, engineers, customers and partners will help people learn about the capabilities of Windows Server 2012, and the benefits of the cloud OS. And what’s more, Microsoft is also promising amazing prizes for people depending on the points they collect during the launch event.

Microsoft is very optimistic about Windows Server 2012, and feels that the new OS has all the possibilities and capabilities to take care of the needs of its users. Jeffrey Snover further writes, “So far the hands-on feedback on the product from you, industry analysts and press has been phenomenally positive. I attribute that to the fact that, from the outset, we committed ourselves to building Windows Server 2012 around the needs and goals of our customers and partners. It feels great to ship software that so squarely addresses customer objectives, both in the here and now and in the future”.

Windows Server 2012 will be available in four different editions to suit individual user requirements and cater to the wide base of Microsoft's followers. The pricing depends on which edition of Windows Server 2012 you are going for.

So while Windows 8 enthusiasts still have to wait for long to get their hands on its final version, Windows Server users can call themselves lucky as there are only a couple of weeks between them and the final version of Windows Server 2012.

Users who are interested in participating in the launch event on September 4 should visit the Windows Server website to sign up and save the date for the launch event.
