Yahoo! India has launched a support program to promote AIDS awareness across the country. Yahoo! India in collaboration with UNAIDS is mobilizing public awareness for a sign-in support program that will be generated into a giant 'UNAIDS-Yahoo Red Ribbon' for display on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2006 at the awards ceremony, Hamsadhwani Amphitheatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. "Yahoo! believes in promoting online communities and here is a great example of how the truly viral nature of the internet can be used to garner support by reaching out to our users who constitute over 80% of India's online population", says George Zacharias, MD, Yahoo! India. In commemoration of 20 years of national efforts to halt and reverse the HIV epidemic in India, the UNAIDS country office, in collaboration with SAATHI-an NGO working for strengthening community responses for fighting HIV, is organizing an Academy Awards scaled event, to recognize and award the NGOs, CBOs, PLHA Networks, Community leaders and Opinion leaders who have made contributed towards strengthening the AIDS response in the country. This event is envisaged to act as a platform for projecting HIV AIDS prevention messages to a nationwide audience in a media-driven program. Click here to join the cause. |
