No new Xbox announcement in 2012

Contrary to the many, many rumours floating around on the internet, Microsoft will not be announcing a new Xbox this year. Last month these rumours had really picked up steam as site MCV had claimed that both Microsoft and Sony would be unveiling the next line up of their consoles at E3 2012. Now, according to Eurogamer, Cedrick Delmas, marketing director of Microsoft France has gone on record to say this obviously isn’t the case.

Don't go expecting anything new this year

Delmas strongly feels that the Xbox360 has not reached the end of its cycle and that proof was in the fact that there was no price cut this year. He also feels this “industry talks a lot”, a fact no one can argue with which is why you should take everything with a pinch of salt unless it’s officially confirmed. When quizzed about E3 2012, here’s what he had to say, “Afterward, what will happen at E3, it's still too early to say. What's certain is that there will be nothing new in 2012. If we wanted to counter Nintendo, we would have to be in a position to release something immediately, and that is not at all the case."

He continued, "We're not here to counter Nintendo and they're not here to fight the other manufacturers. Nintendo has put itself in a different cycle, it's going forward to its own rhythm, with success as we have seen with the Wii, and now it's their turn to present their innovation."

So there you have it folks; official confirmation that Microsoft is not interested in putting out a console anytime soon. Now if they could only work on putting out some nice first party games that would be real swell.
