If you're considering buying a shiny new Xbox 360, you might want to wait a bit. In a strategic update last week, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer hinted that the 360 might see a price cut soon. Although the hint was subtle, to lay additional emphasis on it, he repeated the line twice. Here are his words: "I think every console in the world has had a price decrease sometime in the first few years. I don't know whether we'll have a price decrease in the first few years, and I don't want to comment on that, but I will highlight for you that every console has had a price decrease in the first few years." If the price on the 360 drops considerably, Microsoft might actually drive the PS3 completely out of the market. And if that's not enough, they might even gain a few sales from the Wii's market share. |
