Samsung T23B350 Review

As a brand, Samsung has over the last few years gained immense popularity, owing to their line-up of Android smartphones, and the success extends to the company's line-up of other electronic devices, as well; most notable of which is their line-up of televisions. Samsung recently unveiled the T23B350 HDTV monitor, which boasts of impressive features, such as being an HDTV monitor, with built-in digital TV tuner and inbuilt speakers. The stand allows one to tilt the monitor

Design and Build Quality
Samsung has a knack for designing stylish products that can complement a home and with the T23B350, the case is no different. The monitor has a glossy black finish overall and features a slim bezel all over. Though it is a 23-inch model, it does not look as bulky, compared to some of the other monitors found in the market featuring a similar size. Besides the branding in the front, the monitor is devoid of any obstructions on the surface, like controls, that would take away from its look. The brand has done well in adding touch sensitive buttons on the bottom right of the bezel. The buttons located on this LED monitor include controls for power, adjusting the channels, increasing or decreasing the volume, a control for the menu and a source button. From the buttons located here, we can see that this monitor features controls that are usually found on HDTVs and not monitors.

Like most televisions nowadays, this monitor too comes with an option of attaching a USB flash drive. The connector for this input is located at a niche on the side at the back. This connector is side facing allowing one to easily plug-in a thumb drive and swap it with another. For a monitor, the T23B350 is loaded with connectivity options and it has connectors, such as component, composite, HDMI, D-Sub and an RCA connector. However, a major absentee found here is a DVI connector, something that is pretty much essential on all monitors as of today. Though it has an HDMI input, one would also want a VGA connector, as it also gives the option of having an analog input, as opposed to being solely digital.

An array of connectors at the back

The monitor balances itself on a stand that is connected to a base, which is not very large. Maintaining a minimalistic design is what this monitor is all about and the brand has added a small base to complement the rest of the monitor. The stand featured here is stylish and it has a transparent finish. With this stand, one can swivel the display to an extent, which helps in choosing an appropriate viewing angle. The stand feels sturdy and so does the base. There was no wobble noticed from the stand and even when the controls on the bezel were tapped, there was no major unsteadiness felt. Rounding up this bit of the review, one will find the design of this monitor great, as it features an LED TV design that can appeal to most people. The build quality is great as well and because of its sturdy appearance, it appears to last for a significant amount of time.

Features
Nowadays, monitors are shedding the tag of merely being a screen with a small interface for adjusting the various settings, instead, brands are adding more and more features in them allowing them to double up as a solution for an HDTV. This is exactly what Samsung has done when launching the 23-inch T23B50. This monitor is categorized as an HDTV monitor as it comes loaded with features, such as a TV tuner, picture in picture capabilities and an input allowing it to be paired with a home theatre system. This by far is the main feature of this full HD monitor.

The interface of the monitor is very impressive and shares a resemblance with those found on HDTVs or mid-range projectors to high-end projectors. The interface is extremely fluid and one can get adjusted to the layout and operations of it within a matter of minutes. The picture settings is loaded with a ton of tweakable options that include the ability to change brightness, contrast, sharpness and a host of others. One can also adjust the picture mode and assign preset modes, such as standard, movie or dynamic. The advanced picture settings, include the ability to adjust white balance, black tone, flesh tones, RGB only, gamma, and motion lighting. Overall, by adjusting the various settings, one can get the best possible settings, depending on the content they are viewing.

Viewing angles are not the best here

Samsung has held no punches when it comes to the sound as well and has added music modes, such as music, movie, clear voice and amplify. The brand has also incorporated features, such as SRS TruSurround HD, which gives one the effect of having a surround sound experience on the monitor without actually having a home theatre setup. Apart from this, it features SRS TruDialog and an equalizer allowing one to tweak the different sound settings.

The monitor also comes with modes, such as eco-saving mode, which helps in conserving electricity. The Samsung MagicAngle feature added in this monitor allows to have the best viewing angles and there are a range of preset functions, allowing the screen to not appear dark from different angles.
