Smart TV Capabilities
The Smart TV features found here are pretty impressive and the Samsung App store has expanded quite a lot. The apps for YouTube, Fitness, Hello World and the others work really well and it is great for anyone who uses this television. The Explore 3D app found in the Smart Hub allows you to view 3D content streamed off the Internet and there are movie trailers, music videos and other 3D content that can be viewed here.

Voice Recognition
The main USP of the UA55ES8000 is that it is an interactive television set, which basically means that you can speak to it or control it by using hand gestures. Smartphones in recent times have integrated this feature and the UA55ES8000 is one of the first televisions that incorporates voice control technology. The feature works and can carry out basic functionalities like powering it on, accessing various apps and adjusting the volume. The performance of this service is average at best and the performance is inconsistent. There are times when it works flawlessly and others when it does not respond or understand the command at all.

Motion Control
Another main feature of this television is that it supports motion control. The performance of this feature is really quite paltry in comparison to all the other features on board. Most of the the cursor does not appear on the screen even when you are waving your hands in front of the screen. To get this feature to work, we found that recalibrating it was the only sure shot to activate it. However, once it was activated, we could use it for sometime and then suddenly the cursor on screen would disappear; this was quite frustrating. Being a major feature of the UA55ES8000, Samsung should have done a better job of implementing it. However, as we said earlier regarding the voice recognition feature, Samsung's done well to include it and over the next few years, this feature will only get a lot better.

Remote Control
The television comes with two remote controls and both of them work really well. There was nothing to complain about at all over here but the only thing we did not quite like was the fact that the remotes need to be pointed in the general direction of the webcam for it to work smoothly.

Verdict and Price in India
The Samsung UA55ES8000 is available in India at an MRP of Rs. 2,73,000. This television is a product that is meant for a niche audience and the price is the only justification for this fact. The model possesses cutting edge features that very few televisions in the market come equipped with nowadays such as motion and voice control. As of now, these two features are still a work in progress but it is great that Samsung took the initiative and added these features in their flagship LED LCD TV.

When it comes down to the fact whether you should purchase this TV or not, this model offers some really great performances that will certainly allow you to enjoy yourself, so the question of how well it works does not even arise as it does more than well. The only real issue besides the inconsistent performance of the interactive features is the price as it is on the higher side and there are a range of televisions from other brands such as Sony’s  Bravia KDL-55HX925, which is available for Rs. 2,39,000 although it comes devoid of these interactive features. If cash is not an issue then this television is definitely worth keeping in mind before upgrading.
