Nitho Wireless Guitar Trio

There can be nothing more exciting than calling home a few friends, getting a few pizzas, some beers and definitely a jam session! But the jam session part doesn’t really happen unless you’ve taken those all important guitar/drum lessons. Is that a good enough reason for you to not jam? Not really!

Thanks to games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, there’s no need for you to feel left out. Also, companies like Nitho come to our rescue for the very fact that they’ve introduced something that they call the Wireless Guitar Trio. Sure it’s not a big name like Fender, but that’s not gonna stop us from giving it a try.

Design

It’s black & white with colorful frets, might not sound too descriptive but a very attractive looking guitar for sure. The neck has two sets of frets, one set is placed high, and the other towards the base. The only reason there are two sets is so that both kids and adults find it easy to play on it. The base has a joystick, four-way navigation keys, a menu button, a connect button, a strum bar, a whammy bar and two buttons for start and select. There’s also a slot to place the Wii which lies next to the strum bar. The back of the guitar has a battery-slot which takes three AAA batteries to run the Guitar Trio. There’s also a strap that you can attach to the guitar and hang around your neck!

The one problem noticed was the quality of the plastic used. Though, it feels quite solid, the product finish doesn’t seem to be up to the mark. It rather feels as if there are some loose parts in the Guitar. Also the frets should have been a little less depressed because there are times when you might wonder whether you’re actually pressing the frets or not and the strum bar feels a bit flimsy and can be of a problem while playing the game.

Apart from the problems cited above, the build is quite nice and the size quite compact thus making it convenient to play, especially for beginners.

Performance
Coming to the more important aspect of a product, the hardware doesn’t affect the performance most of the time. As the frets are well placed it’s not difficult to switch between two or more frets every now and then. The whammy bar is one cool thing that’s there in the Guitar Trio. You can give alterations to long notes and make your own sounds, the handle makes it easy and the whammy bar moves pretty smoothly. The flimsiness of the strum bar is a small problem especially in the parts where you have to strum frequently and can put you off (the game and your mood).

There’s a reason why it’s called a Guitar Trio; the very fact that it is made not only for the PS3 but also the Wii and yes the PS2! So, now you can play Rock Band or Guitar Hero with a proper guitar without having to buy an expensive controller if you already have a PS2.

Verdict
Whenever you want to understand how good a gaming console or a controller is, you have to make sure that you get the right performance and there shouldn’t be any sort of a difference felt while playing a game. In simple words, the experience might not be overwhelming but should definitely be satisfying. The Guitar Trio does just that. Plus at a price of Rs. 4099/- it seems quite worth the money. The only place where I would love to see some improvement is the build quality and minor details such as the strum bar, otherwise, if you have a PS2 and are dying to play Rock Band on it, the Guitar Trio is what you should get your hands on.
