Mitashi TFD7608 Portable DVD Player

14 Feb, 2009, 10:00 am IST | by Siddharth Bhatia | Blu-ray Players Blu-ray Players

Mitashi is one brand that has an ever widening product portfolio, and all the products are always reasonably priced. I cannot say that the quality has been top notch in all my reviews, but let's just take them one at a time. Today our focus is on a different offering from their stable, it’s a portable Video player, called the TFD7608. It's a portable  DVD player with a TV tuner and loads more...

Design and Features
A rectangular box contains the main player and another white case for numerous accessories along with it. The TFD7608 is silver on the outside panels, while it has a black interior. The screen, DVD tray cover, buttons etc. are all black. The Mitashi logo is printed bang on center, along with other respective logos of DVD, USB, SD card etc. on the outer panel.

These are aligned in a row below, in a Grey color font. It’s pretty light in weight too, which is good for portability. The other accessories include a cloth strap to attach to car seats, remote control with stand, cassette adapter to play on car stereo, car lighter adapter, plus a couple of RCA cables, a DC adapter, plugs and manuals.

The player comes with a folding 7-inch 16:9 wide-screen color TFT LCD display, which can swivel upto 270 degrees.(90 degrees clockwise and 180 degrees anticlockwise) The two speakers are hidden behind typical looking grilles, below the screen. Buttons for usage are on the bottom flat face, all around the drive cover. This cover opens out to expose the tray, and is operated by a mechanical button.

The flush mounted buttons are  arranged around neatly, the only thing is that when you press them they can tend to make a clicking sound. That could have been avoided. An analog style pot controls volume; it’s on the right side. Besides there is the headphone out, AV out and AV in on the same side panel.

The unit has a TV tuner, which can be quite a useful feature, making it a portable TV of sorts, and besides it plays videos off DVDs, flash drives connected via USB and also memory cards(SD/ MMC/ MS). DivX too is thrown in. The TFD-7608 needs to be charged via DC adapter supplied in the package. The battery is large, and is accessible through the bottom panel of the unit.
