Fujifilm FinePix A800

Features
The A800 is an 8.3MP camera with 3x optical zoom lens, and ISO settings of up to 800. I like the 2.5-inch "amorphous silicon TFT colour" LCD screen that picks up 115,000 pixels. Why I like it is because it offers a wide viewing angle, and has an anti-reflection coating makes using the LCD screen a piece of cake.

The A800 features Fujifilm's sixth generation 1/ 1.6-inch Super CCD HR that boasts of a larger surface area than traditional sensors, enabling it to capture more light from its Fujinon lens.

Like all the A-series of cameras, this one too makes use of the Real Photo processing to capture pictures in natural light. It also makes use of the dual-noise reduction system and the useful intelligent flash system that analyzes the scene and automatically controls flash power output.

For most of your daily point-and-shoot purposes, you won’t have to look farther than the mode dial. You select between modes like auto, manual, baby, picture stabilization, red-eye reduction, digital zoom and portrait. When in manual mode, you can further select from sport, night, landscape, natural light, beach, snow, fireworks, sunset, underwater, flower, party, museum and text. This you can do by reaching out for the menu.

There is something strange I would like to mention. The A800 doesn’t come with any color options. This is a serious blunder. I mean, seriously, even phone cameras offer that. This is a real downer! Even casual users experimenting with the colors, so ignoring something like this, in my opinion, is really sad. I want my sepia!!

The UI is very user-friendly. In fact, all the functions have a lot of text explaining what each setting is for. This is very useful for first time users. Also the interface is quite fast, although it takes a long time during start up. It takes about 2-3 seconds to start and gives up to 1.5 seconds of preview. You can tweak it to reach up to 3 seconds if more preview time is what you desire.
