The speakers are placed below the screen, and as in most DVD players they're not loud enough. Trust me, these players are meant to be enjoyed with the bundled headphones. (A decent pair they are too, if you ask me.) The player plays DVD and VCDs, so don’t try playing DivX movies. However, it does recognize and play MP3 CDs/DVDs, although it takes a while to read the disc. Besides, navigation can get a bit slow with scratched discs. Now to get down to what the player is really meant to do. The 7-inch screen really helps one enjoy the movie; the size is mighty big if you are used to the video iPod or the Creative Vision:M. The picture quality is sharp, with minimal artifacts. The black levels were surprisingly good, although not that accurate; I still enjoyed the Flushed Away DVD. The sound quality is good too, but I'd still suggest that you buy a new pair of headphones if you like adrenaline-pumping sound. The player also comes equipped with an anti-skip system that works well. Apart from this, the player also has composite video and audio output, although the cables are not included. The player costs Rs 5,999 at HomeShop18, and comes with five DVDs free. Also included are a car charger and carry case, among other things. If you have the need for it, this DVD player rocks at the price. It’s affordable, and does everything you expect from a portable DVD player, so you need not look further. In fact, it can be a perfect gift for the upcoming festival season. |
