Asus has also bundled two utilities, SmartDoctor and GamerOSD, on the driver disc. SmartDoctor is a handy tool for monitoring the temperatures and manually overclocking the card. The main interface of SmartDoctor is tabbed and displays the temperatures of the core and memory in Centigrade or Fahrenheit. There are sliders for adjusting the core, shader and memory speeds at the bottom of the window. A few more tweaks can be accessed from the Settings dialog box. You can set the alarm threshold temperature for GPU and memory, control the fan speed, and even let SmartDoctor overclock the card automatically. Using the GamerOSD utility you can capture or broadcast gameplay videos over the Internet. Performance The card is just a little faster than a regular GTX 285 and generates a measly 3 to 5 fps more, which doesn't really justify its price premium. PCMark Vantage reported a performance bump of 4 percent, which we found to be totally imperceptible in any of our real-world gaming tests. |
