Guitar Hero On Tour

With Guitar Hero hitting just about every gaming platform out there, including mobile phones, it was only a matter of time before it made its way to handheld consoles. The question was: how does one air-guitar on a handheld console such as the Nintendo DS? Activision and Red Octane have the answer – in a goofy yet ingenious fashion.

Playing a Guitar Hero game without a 'guitar' would make it just another twitch-based music game, which is why an attachment was a must. The contraption you see above is the attachment that makes the game possible on the humble Nintendo DS. As weird and unguitarlike as the concept may seem, it can still be a lot of fun.

The box comes with the game card, the guitar attachment with a pick-stylus, and a good amount of stickers to decorate your DS and the attachment. Those with the older non-lite model of the DS don't need to fret – an attachment option is available for those as well.

The assembly of the whole thing is simple enough. Put the cart in Slot 1 of the DS and insert the attachment to the Slot 2 (GBA Slot). That's it – you're all set to rock.

As you may have already noticed, the attachment comes with four colored buttons. The orange button from the home console version of the game is missing, but that's a logical decision as there's no scope for you to slide your hand once you use the grip.

There's of course no strum bar; you use the pick stylus on the touchscreen. Even the whammy bar function can be used through the touchscreen. While the system may seem complicated and very uncomfortable, in reality it's easy as pie.
