The WD TV is a superb device for those of you who just want a simple Audio/Video playback tool. The player basically bridges the gap between your multimedia content and your TV.

Taking a closer look at this small yet versatile box, you’ll find two USB ports that allow you to play movies directly of a thumb drive or say even an external drive. For video and audio options you’ll find an HDMI and composite out along with an SPDIF port for digital audio. __STARTQUOTE__As far as playing High Definition videos are concerned the little black box handled them with ease.__ENDQUOTE__The Western Digital TV supports a wide range of formats and will play almost anything and everything thrown at it. From a wide range of audio and video formats to even viewing pictures, this little black box is a stunner when it comes to playback. The small remote control allows you to navigate through it’s rather naïve menu system.

On plugging in a storage device, the WD TV automatically scans for and makes a list of content available, which is then split into their respective categories. Furthermore, if you add another external drive or even a USB drive, the device integrates the data of both the devices into its library and treats it as one.

You can view videos and photos according to their date, folders or by the most recently viewed file. It allows you to sort music by artist, genre, album and playlist. As far as playing High Definition videos are concerned the little black box handled them with ease.

If you are looking for an easy-to-use all-round media jukebox then the Western Digital TV is the player to look out for, especially at it's inexpensive price point of Rs 6,500.

Would you buy it?
