Asus Lamborghini VX3

In terms of specifications, the VX3 is loaded. It has an Intel C2D T9300 processor, 4GB of system memory, an Nvidia 9300M chipset, and a 320GB HDD. These specs lead to a pretty healthy figure of 5321 under PCMark05. We peaked at 5640 but that seemed to be an aberrant result; a more stable score was between 5278 and 5321. However, the 3DMark06 score of 1658 wasn't so hot. The 9300M chipset is still an entry-level chip, and this dragged the overall score down.

The battery disappointed us. It lasted only around 125 minutes before it conked off. This was under a fair load of listening to music, surfing on Wi-Fi, and writing this article. The backup battery was not much better; it wore out in about the same time. Though the two add up to a decent figure, the individual battery life should have been much higher. Other 12.1 inch laptops are battery champs and can easily wrest 6-7 hours out of a single large battery.

The VX3 is a good addition to the ranks of the Lamborghini family of laptops. It offers a solid sense of ownership, but suffers in terms of its overall performance and a simply atrocious battery. The disservice is compounded by its cost of Rs 1,86,000. Though it’s a premium product, it barely pips the Asus U6S which costs about half as much and has equally good styling.

All said and done, we would advise you to steer clear of the VX3. At its price point, this laptop should have been an outperformer... but sadly, it feels more like a sportscar that's running on petrol fumes.
