Moser Baer MBI LTF 42845 LCD TV

28 Jul, 2009, 9:00 am IST | by Siddharth Bhatia | LCD LCD

This is only the second LCD TV we are reviewing by the new entrant Moser Baer. These guys have gone from CD to LCD, in other words the brand is expanding its market. The 42 incher in question today is MBILTF42845, and as soon as we took it out of the box we could sense improvements, so in an exclusive Tech2 review, let’s see what this popular optical media manufacturer can offer in terms of HDTV...

Design
A simple but unique design, not resembling any of the Asian biggies, this model sports a smoothly contoured bezel with a glossy black finish. The bottom panel is extended to extra breadth, with a curved bottom border, and a neatly placed oval chamber with a red LED inside. It sort of looks like a red eye.

Right above this is the Moser Baer Logo printed. Buttons are on the bottom panel, in the form of small touch sensitive circular bumps, with their respective labels printed in dark gray.__STARTQUOTE__The whites were way better than the black performance, as this TV does have quite a bright backlight, the brightness comes through__ENDQUOTE__The aesthetics are minimal but very neat and clean cut, even the back connection window is a marked improvement.

Speaking of connectors we have 2 HDMis and one each of composite, S-video, component, headphone out and 15 pin D-sub for PC connections. There is a USB slot also. The TV comes with a Full HD screen at 1920x1080, with a dynamic contrast ratio quoted at 50,000:1. Here is one similarity amongst these brands: insanely high quotes for Dynamic contrast. Brightness is 500 Cd/m2 and response time is 5 ms.
